Journal: Theoforum Volume: 46 Issue: 2 Date: 2015 Pages: 219-240 DOI: 10.2143/TF.46.2.3209417 Abstract : Theologians writing from the context of disabilities have been acutely attuned to the fact that the constructs of Christian theology and the practices they engender have assumed an able-bodied hermeneutic for human experience and for concepts of God. This has resulted in the marginalization and misrepresentation of the voices and experiences of persons with disabilities in theology, in church, and in society. These theologians contend that theological discourse by persons with disabilities has the capacity to expose and dispel false assumptions about God and human beings in the context of disability. Moreover, it has the capacity to illuminate aspects of the mystery of God in the experience of disability in ways that transform both Christian perspectives about disability and about the relationship of God to the suffering that attends such disability. This essay examines four proposals for theologies of disability: the Sovereign God, the Accessible God, the Disabled God, and the Interdependent God. Les théologiens qui écrivent à partir du monde des handicaps sont particulièrement sensibles au fait que les modes de penser de la théologie chrétienne ainsi que les pratiques qui en découlent supposent l’herméneutique d’un corps sain quand ils parlent de l’expérience humaine et des concepts de Dieu. D’où une marginalisation et une représentation faussée du discours et de l’expérience des personnes handicapées en théologie, dans l’Église et dans la société. Ces théologiens soutiennent que le discours théologique des personnes handicapées est apte à dénoncer et à corriger de fausses conceptions de Dieu et de la personne humaine dans un contexte de handicap. Ce discours peut même éclairer certains aspects du mystère de Dieu dans l’expérience du handicap, de manière à transformer le regard chrétien tant sur le handicap lui-même que sur la manière dont Dieu se situe par rapport à la souffrance qui l’accompagne. L’article étudie quatre propositions pour une théologie du handicap: Dieu souverain, Dieu accessible, Dieu handicapé, Dieu interdépendant. |
