Frei, is a promising interpretative approach which helps to construct post-modern theology based on biblical narratives. It seems, however, that Frei’s approach raises serious objections to historical criticism. Do we have to enjoy the benefits of narrative theology at the expense of historical-critical approaches to biblical texts? Are there any points in common between both of them? This article will offer tentative answers to the above two questions in the context of Gen 12:3. It will show that the concept of plain sense may provide an opportunity for a rapprochement between traditional and historical hermeneutics. La théologie narrative, comme il apparaît dans les travaux de Hans W. Frei, est une démarche interprétative prometteuse, qui favorise la théologie post-moderne appuyée sur la narrativité biblique. Il semble toutefois que les travaux de Frei soulèvent de sérieuses objections pour la critique historique. Doit-on bénéficier de la théologie narrative aux dépens des approches historico-critiques des textes? N’y a-t-il pas des points communs aux deux? Cet article propose des réponses à ces deux questions dans le contexte de Gen 12,3. Il montrera que la notion de «sens plénier» pourrait fournir l’occasion d’un rapprochement entre les herméneutiques traditionnelles et historiques. |
