Een romance (1972) are brought into the limelight for the first time. Besides a ‘regular’ manuscript containing an almost full version of the novel, the genetic dossier includes a unique document called ‘Een Klachtenboek’, which presents at the same time an autobiographical report of a holiday in the Périgord and the very first version of the novel. The article describes and analyzes the dossier of manuscripts in order to gain a more accurate insight into the genesis and narrative composition of the novel. Furthermore, it explores the hermeneutic potential of the ‘Klachtenboek’ by combining insights from critique génétique and narratology. |
