Abstract :
Many scholars recognize the liturgical character of the Apocalypse of John. This is supported by the presence of eight hymns found in the book. These hymns are found in the context of descriptions of heavenly liturgy. Four of these hymns are placed next to a reference to the temple (ναός): 7:9-11; 11:15-18; 15:3-4 and 16:5-7. The article explores the relationship between the heavenly liturgy and the temple which is interpreted as a symbol of the Church.
