Abstract :
Publication of Stockholm statue NME 81. It belonged to a man named Pediese, son of Ankhsheshonq, who was a Priest of Sobek, Anubis, and Hathor, an Overseer of the Priests of Heryshef, and a Grandee in Netjeret. The statue has frequently been discussed in relation to Papyrus Rylands IX, but these interpretations have relied upon a preliminary translation without photographs or stylistic analysis. A new translation is presented here with photographs and full annotation, and the date of the inscription is evaluated through stylistic analysis of the statue. In light of these new elements, the statue’s relevance to Papyrus Rylands IX is reassessed.
