Exploitant la période de la jeunesse du personnage, l’Abu Moslem Nāme attribue d’abord à celui-ci la plupart des caractéristiques du héros épique. Le récit ne s’étant toutefois pas affranchi des impératifs historiques relatifs aux origines de son héros, c’est sur ce point qu’interviendra ensuite le Joneyd Nāme. En tant que pure fiction, le Joneyd Nāme se livre en toute liberté à une réélaboration de ces origines, concourant ainsi au processus de mythification du personnage. Remontant dans la lignée du protagoniste de l’Abu Moslem Nāme, il forge à son intention une ascendance noble et surnaturelle et le dote d’un héritage de bravoure exemplaire. The evolution of the character of Abu Muslim into a legendary, then a mythical figure, can be observed through two Persian prose romances: the Abū Muslim Nāma (Abū Ṭāhir-i Ṭarṭūsī, 5th-6th/11th-12th c.) and the Junayd Nāma (Abū Ḥafż-i Kūfī, 9th/15th c.). Developing on Abū Muslim’s youth, the Abū Muslim Nāma endows the character with most of the characteristics of the epic hero. However, the narrative does not free itself from the historical imperatives of the hero’s origins. This is precisely where the Junayd Nāma steps in. As pure fiction, it freely reworks Abū Muslim’s origins, and thus contributes to the process of mythification of the character. Going back in his lineage, the Junayd Nāma creates for the protagonist of the Abū Muslim Nāma a noble and supernatural ancestry, and bestows on him the inheritance of an exemplary bravery. |
