Roman times are a period of importance in the study of the routes and trade that passed through the Great Oasis. The development of trade seems to explain the particular interest of Rome in the control of this Egyptian fringe. Literary sources and archaeological remains allow us to understand what the main tracks in the region were during Roman times.
