Bien qu’à cette question, Henri Bergson réponde «non» et sépare ainsi nettement le langage de la pensée (en durée, comme il se doit selon lui), il reste chez lui une hésitation. À partir de cette question, le but de cet article est de proposer une lecture de Bergson dans la perspective du système verbo-temporel de la langue tel qu’élaboré par Gustave Guillaume. La confrontation avec Guillaume permet de découvrir, par delà la mécanique visible du langage, la nature invisible de sa constitution et de sa modulation, en accord avec le développement de notre pensée en durée. Is there a language of duration? A language, the very structure of which, down to its grammatical framework, could correspond to the requirement of thinking in duration? Although Henri Bergson replies «no» to this question and thus clearly separates the language of thought (in duration, as is proper in his view), there remains a hesitation. The aim of this article, which sets out from this question, is to propose a reading of Bergson from the perspective of the verbo-temporal system of language as elaborated by Gustave Guillaume. Confrontation with Guillaume makes it possible to discover, beyond the visible mechanism of language, the invisible nature of its constitution and its modulation in accordance with the development of our thought in duration. |
