Abstract :
The prologue of the Gospel of John builds a significant text for theology and the Church. As part of the biblical revelation the prologue puts clear emphasizes by discussing in its first part the incarnation of the λόγον, and by reflecting in its second part the 'how' of this revelation-process and the consequences of the latter. Finally the prologue opens the access to the Gospel of John and embraces fundamental key statements on the understanding of the revelation of God, on Christology, on Soteriology and on the task of biblical exegesis. The prologue is a basic model for the contribution of New Testament-exegesis to the life of the Church, namely to interpret the dimension of God through the personal revelation in Jesus Christ. This article goes about a cursory orientation with a view to the life of the Church.
