Pour explorer ce milieu urbain, nous entrons par quatre portes. Nous soulignons des traits particuliers de ces cités et de leur vie sociale et nous identifions des enjeux et des symboliques qui y sont rattachés. Nous observons comment Jésus de Nazareth s’est situé en relation avec la ville, dans ses activités et son langage, et comment Paul de Tarse a accompli sa mission dans la culture urbaine de l’Empire romain. In the Bible, many cities had an important role for the history of the Jewish people and of the first Christians. To explore this urban context, we enter through four doors. We underline some specific features of these cities and of their social life and we identify issues and symbolic dimensions connected to them. We look at the way Jesus of Nazareth related to the city, in his action and words, and how Paul of Tarsus carried out his mission in the urban culture of the Roman Empire. |
