During his reign (1414-1435), he commissioned many manuscripts. The list of the books copied for him in Shirâz is still not complete. The names of several persons from among the prince's calligraphers figure in the manuscripts. Two volumes, dated 1417 and ca. 1430, bear the signature of a gilder-illuminator (mozahheb) named Nasr al-Soltâni. It is tempting to identify this artist with Nasir al-Din Mohammad Mozahheb who was appointed by Ebrâhim Soltân as superintendent of his kotobxâneh in 1432, and whose appointment act has been preserved and is translated in this article. Ebrâhim Soltân, vice-roi timouride du Fârs, fut un calligraphe et un grand mécène, commandant la réalisation de nombreux manuscrits durant son règne (1414-1435). La liste des livres copiés pour lui à Shirâz peut être complétée. On peut relever les noms de plusieurs des calligraphes du prince et, sur deux volumes (datant de 1417 et ca. 1430), une signature de doreur-enlumineur (mozahheb) avec le nom de Nasr al-Soltâni. Il paraît tentant de proposer d'identifier ce personnage avec Nasir al-Din Mohammad Mozahheb qu'Ebrâhim Soltân a nommé en 1432 à la tête de son kotobxâneh et dont le brevet de nomination est conservé. |
