Document Details : Title: «A Peasant Marriage», a poem in Chali by Mohammad-Baqer 'Ameli Author(s): YARSHATER, Ehsan Journal: Studia Iranica Volume: 30 Issue: 2 Date: 2001 Pages: 245-289 DOI: 10.2143/SI.30.2.287 Abstract : The poem published here consists of 129 couplets in Châli, a variety of the Tâti dialects, spoken in Châl, a large village in the Râmand region to the southeast of Qazvin. The poem is by Mohammad-Bâqer 'Âmeli, a modest poet ad cleric, who describes the rituals and ceremonies of a wedding in Châl in a mildly humorous and occasionally satirical vein. It is written in a ramal meter, with partial success in following the strict rules of the Persian prosody. The native prosodic system based on a combination of the stress and the number of syllables sometimes shines through. The poem is interesting, not only linguistically, but also from a literary, folkloric, and anthropological vantage point. An account of a number of rural customs and practices of the region as well as words and expressions which are otherwise hard to come by are provided by the poem. Le poème publié ici consiste en 129 distiques en châli, une variété des dialectes tâti, parlé à Châl, un grand village dans la région de Râmand au sud-est de Qazvin. Son auteur, Mohammad-Bâqer 'Âmeli, un modeste membre du clergé, décrit les rituels et cérémonies d'un mariage à Châl sur un ton légèrement humoristique et, parfois, satirique. Le poème, composé dans une métrique du ramal, ne parvient que partiellement à suivre les règles strictes de la prosodie persane. Le système prosodique tâti, basé sur une combinaison d'accent et de nombre des syllabes, transparaît de temps à autre. Le poème est intéressant aussi bien du point de vue linguistique que littéraire, folklorique et anthropologique. Non seulement il note le vocabulaire et les expressions, autrement difficiles à trouver, mais il témoigne des nombreuses coutumes et pratiques rurales de la région. |
