In 2011 a biography of Boerhaave by Luuc Kooijmans was published. In this article, the question will be answered in which way Boerhaave was represented in the Dutch literature of the nineteenth century. He was not only seen as a national hero, but also, in the context of the upcoming cult of genius, as an example of the ‘true doctor’. |
