Document Details : Title: Ruzie in het Latijn over de volkstaal? Subtitle: Een poëtische dialoog tussen Caspar Barlaeus en Constantijn Huygens herbezien Author(s): DENEIRE, Tom Journal: Spiegel der Letteren Volume: 54 Issue: 1 Date: 2012 Pages: 1-33 DOI: 10.2143/SDL.54.1.2152721 Abstract : This contribution discusses two poems, one by Caspar Barlaeus and one by Constantijn Huygens (1625), in which the first argues against the Dutch poetry of two of Huygens’ protégés and the latter defends his vernacular poetry. Through a detailed analysis and reinterpretation of this issue in terms of the functionalist polysystem theory and Early Modern network managing we show that this is not a quarrel concerning the vernacular, but a conscious attempt of Barlaeus to get acquainted with Huygens and the vernacular field. |
