Document Details : Title: Listing the Minor Agreements Author(s): MCLOUGHLIN, Michael Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 87 Issue: 1 Date: 2011 Pages: 201-228 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.87.1.2122234 Abstract : The Two-Source theory (2ST) suggests that Matthew and Luke copied Mark. But occasionally they agree on a detail not found in Mark. These details are the 'Minor Agreements', or MA. They present a difficulty for the 2ST: how could the others have agreed on the same alteration to Mark? The MA are divided into positive, negative, order, and content-only cases. It is suggested that only the positive cases require serious consideration. A complete list of 351 such cases is provided, reduced to 267 when purely grammatical cases are excluded. By restricting the subject matter in this way it is hoped to bring the debate on the MA back into a sharper focus. |
