Abstract :
The origin and development of human language fits perfectly into the Darwinian theory. Language is based, in a cognitive as well as a communicative sense, on universal principles essential to life in the whole of the animal world. However, with the realization of the sentence as the maxim of truth and the text as the maxim of logic, the purely representative function is receding in favour of newly created mental worlds.
