Nous traitons plus en détail la critique postmoderne de la notion d’identité, critique qui est elle-même tributaire de la conception moderne et cartésienne du sujet. L’évolution de la relation entre l’individu moderne et la politique moderne a culminé dans le problème, issu de la modernité tardive, de l’exigence de reconnaissance politique des différences identitaires. La problématique de l’identité du citoyen vivant en Europe ne peut plus se soustraire à ce problème politique. Dans la deuxième partie, le problème de l’identité de l’Europe est examiné. Nous critiquons aussi bien sa conception libérale que sa variante conservatrice. In the first place we examine the first problem indicated by the title: the identity of the individual or of the citizen, in Europe in particular. We treat more in detail the post-modern criticism of the notion of identity, a criticism which itself derives from the modern and Cartesian concept of the subject. The evolution of the relationship between the modern individual and modern politics has culminated in the problem, derived from late modernity, of the requirement of political recognition of differences of identity. The problematic of the identity of the citizen living in Europe can no longer be withdrawn from this political problem. In the second part the problem of the identity of Europe is examined. We criticise both its liberal conception and its conservative variant. |
