Document Details : Title: A case of rhabdomyolysis and tromboembolic event secondary to fibrate monotherapy Author(s): A. Yildiz , E. Gucuk , S. Cay Journal: Acta Cardiologica Volume: 63 Issue: 4 Date: 2008 Pages: 515-517 DOI: 10.2143/AC.63.4.2033052 Abstract : Fibrates either alone or in combination with statins have been commonly used for the treatment of high non-HDL-cholesterol levels. In addition, this type of therapy is also associated with some adverse events like rhabdomyolysis. We present the first case in the literature describing the development of both rhabdomyolysis-induced acute renal failure and thromboembolic event under the treatment of fibrate monotherapy. |
