Abstract :
This article focuses on a very distinctive type of headdress, widely worn in the tribal parts of Pakistan and in parts of eastern Afghanistan. The article discusses the political meaning of wearing such a headdress, its history, and in particular its often assumed origins with the Greek-Macedonian invaders of Afghanistan in the fourth century B.C.
