Abstract :
This article discusses a striking, women’s garment that is widely worn in Eastern Africa, but also along the southern coast of the Arabian peninsula. The kanga is a wide strip of cotton cloth, often decorated with bold and colourful, printed designs, and very intriguingly, with text messages that are integrated into the border of the design.
