La remémoration, qui se distingue d’une imagination indifférente à la fréquence de ses considérations, apparaît alors comme une perpétuelle reconstruction des pensées et permet de rendre compte de l’union de l’esprit et du corps. The nature and the articulation of the bodily and intellectual memory according to Descartes show how a criticism of the mnemotechnical arts leaves room, not only for a new method, but also for a theory of the mind and of consciousness, in which ideas are not conceived as a permanent material contained in the mind in the form of memories, which may be latent. Recalling to mind, which differs from imagination that is indifferent to the frequency of its considerations, then appears as a perpetual reconstruction of thoughts and makes it possible to give an account of the union of the mind and the body. |
