Abstract :

This article proposes a "back to front" rereading of the Constitution Dei Verbum on Divine revelation (1965) starting with its last chapter "Holy Scripture in the life of the Church" while taking into account the transformations which have taken place since Vatican II, both in European culture and in critical exegesis. The relationship of our societies to the cultural traces of Christianity, especially the Bible, the function of which is shown to be "inspiring" or "revealing", and an elementary "faith", essential to any human existence, provide the starting point of an inductive approach which designates the "thresholds" which this "faith" can pass when it is put in relationship with the Nazarene, through his disciples, and reaches the experience of Revelation which is at stake in these encounters.
