Concreet betreft het een verwerking van het aardewerk, afkomstig uit deze nederzettingscontexten. Een dergelijke studie is niet alleen nuttig om tot een valabele datering van de sporen te komen, maar vertelt ons bovendien ook veel over bepaalde evoluties zoals de verhouding tussen regionaal en geïmporteerd materiaal, de veranderende tafel – en eetgewoontes, de economische relaties tussen bepaalde gebieden, enz. … Hiermee hopen we een wezenlijke bijdrage te leveren tot een betere kennis van de aard van het aardewerkrepertorium in de vicus van Velzeke (en de omliggende regio) gedurende de Romeinse periode. Ceramic study of some Gallo-Roman contexts from the vicus of Velzeke (Belgium) This research paper concerns the study four contexts from the Gallo-Roman vicus at Velzeke (Belgium). In particular, the ceramics from these settlement contexts has been processed. This type of research is useful not only towards dating the remains, but sheds light on certain evolutions such as the proportion of regional vs. imported wares, the changing eating habits, the economic relationships between certain regions, etc. The aim of this paper is to contribute to a better knowledge of the nature of the ceramics in the vicus of Velzeke (and its surroudings) during the Roman period. |
