Abstract :
Marriage Resource, a Christian charity headed up by Richard Kane in Wimborne, Dorset was responsible for the launch of the first ever National Marriage Week in February this year. Over 600 Churches and 45.000 individuals took part. From small beginnings, the event escalated to the extent that it was covered by most of the major newspapers, and featured on 6 national TV news programmes including Newsnight. 31 radio interviews were broadcast including Radio 4's “pm at 5 pm". Events such as dinner dances, re-dedication of vow services, workshops and seminars were held across the land – all with the aim of promoting, enriching and celebrating marriage. As Keith Ewing of the Evangelical Alliance pointed out, Marriage Week was “obviously the right thing at the right time, catching as it did, the mood of the nation".
