Abstract :
Social class is an important determinant of mortality and morbidity. How can this relationship be explained? The body mass index (BMI:W(kg)/H2(m)) is also an important risk factor for mortality and morbidity. In this study the relationship between BMI and social class will be examined in order to explore the possible mechanisms which could explain the higher mortality of the lower social classes.
