Though rare it is dreaded by every physician due to its appearance in young and previously healthy patients and due to its poor prognosis.It is unrelated to dilated cardiomyopathy that has a lower incidence.The diagnosis and therapy however are very similar. The pathogenesis remains controversial. The prognosis is dependent on the degree of recuperation of the left ventricular function.We report on a patient with an excellent outcome and give a review of the recent literature. |
