A 'principle of mediation' is central to the Catholic theological vision. According to this vision, God is manifested through Christ, the Church, and the Sacraments. This Theological interpretation of the world meant that the human body would be fully appreciated as a means of God's revelation, a place of encounter with God, and indispensable to the appropriation of salvation in the celebration of the liturgy. The doctrines of natural law, incarnation, ressurection, and the necessity of sacramental participation affirm the role of the human body in salvation history. In short, the Christian economy of salvation is an event incorporating the body along with the mind and the spirit. |
