Document Details : Title: Issues of Marriage and Sexuality in the Authority and Governance of the Church Author(s): SELLING, Joseph Journal: Marriage, Families & Spirituality Volume: 6 Issue: 2 Date: Autumn 2000 Pages: 289-291 DOI: 10.2143/INT.6.2.2004595 Abstract : Under the auspices of the Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Research (Birmingham, UK) a working party initiated plans to begin a “conversation” within the Roman Catholic Church that would move away from what has been experienced as a “confrontation” on many fronts. The goal of this conversation was to provide an alternative forum for communication between authoritative structures and the many voices of the faithful. With less confrontational lines of communication open, a wide range of topics might then be discussed in a spirit of openness and sharing. This entire exercise would hopefully lead to new and deeper processes of “Authority and Governance in the Church”. |
