The pope said the step toward sainthood for the Beltrame Quattrocchi couple marked an important event for the whole Church. He explained during the homily that the couple “lived an ordinary life in an extraordinary way...Among the joys and concerns of a normal family, they had an extraordinarily rich spiritual life”. A banner depicting the Quattrocchi couple was unveiled after the pope read the beatification decree. It was taken from a photograph that showed Maria and Luigi in old age, smiling and facing each other during a walk in the mountains. |
