Since personal commitment and faith is required for entering into and living a Christian marriage, should pastors refuse these couples a religious ceremony or at least require that they wait until an extended marriage preparation course has substantiated the couple’s real intention? While it is theoretically relatively easy to hold the position that faith is necessary for Christian marriage, in practice it is often difficult, even impossible, to decide whether or not a person is genuinely a believer. |
