This article addresses problems in the theory and practice of spiritual education in schools. A number of definitions and approaches from several continents are discussed, and particular attention is paid to the North American, European and UK contexts. The article advocates a pluralist model of children’s and young people’s spirituality, but warns that more work is needed in defining it, and delineating it from aspects of religion and education.
