Abstract :
Istanbul, the Chaldean Community and the Possibilities of an Internal Flight Alternative.
This article provides a description of the Chaldean community in Istanbul, clearly distinguishing between the Chaldeans who settled in Istanbul after World War I and those Chaldeans who only recently left their region of origin in Eastern Turkey. The author discusses various push and pull factors concerning migration from Istanbul to Western Europe. His conclusion is that Istanbul cannot be considered a valid internal flight alternative for recent Chaldean fugitives from the region of Seert, Bohtan and Hakkari.
