Document Details : Title: Burkitt's lymphoma shortly after an acute HIV infection, treated with highly active retroviral treatment Author(s): COLEBUNDERS R, DOHMEN S, VAN DE VELDE A, PELGROM J, HERMANS P Journal: Acta Clinica Belgica Volume: 56 Issue: 5 Date: 2001 Pages: 321-322 DOI: 10.2143/ACB.56.5.1002865 Abstract : Since the introduction of highly active antiretroviral treatment (HAART) the incidence of opportunistic infections in persons with HIV infection has remarkable decreased. HAART also reduced the incidence of Kaposi’s sarcoma and primary central nervous system lymphoma but the incidence of systemic non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma remained relatively stable. In the following case report we describe a patient who developed a Burkitt’s lymphoma shortly after starting HAART because of an acute HIV infection. |
