Abstract :

Hypertensive disorders are frequent during pregnancy and are related with an important morbidity and mortality worldwide. In this review we aim to provide the reader with a comprehensive overview of the clinical aspects of and the diagnostic tools used in the primary assessment and the (long term) follow-up of preeclampsia. The focus in this review will lay on the clinical follow-up of both the mother and the foetus aiming at the prevention of severe maternal complications as well as preventing growth restriction and prematurity in the child.
