Document Details : Title: New Movements and Communities in the Life of the Church Author(s): KER, Ian Journal: Louvain Studies Volume: 27 Issue: 1 Date: spring 2002 Pages: 69-95 DOI: 10.2143/LS.27.1.928 Abstract : If you were to ask the average Catholic who the most important person in the Church is, they would almost certainly say that it is the pope. If you were then to ask who the next most important people in descending order are, they would say the cardinals, bishops, then the clergy, and lastly the laity; if asked about ‘religious’ such as monks and nuns, they would probably be a little less sure but would almost certainly put them between the clergy and the laity. |
