Document Details : Title: Doing Theology in the Context of Cultural and Religious Pluralism: An Asian Perspective Author(s): PHAN, Peter C. Journal: Louvain Studies Volume: 27 Issue: 1 Date: spring 2002 Pages: 39-68 DOI: 10.2143/LS.27.1.927 Abstract : One of the many signs of the time in our days is no doubt what has been called religious pluralism, or more precisely, a widespread and vigorous revival of religions in their multiple forms. Modernity's confident prediction of the eventual disappearance of religion as a social institution under the assault of technical rationality as well as Christian missionaries' rosy prognostication in the nineteenth century about the imminent triumph of Christianity over non-Christian religions by virtue of its radiant truth proved in hindsight to be little more than wishful thinking. |
