Document Details : Title: Ideal Devotion in Vaiṣṇava Hinduism Subtitle: Brajabhāṣā Hagiographic Evidence Author(s): POLLET, G. Journal: Orientalia Lovaniensia Periodica Volume: 26 Date: 1995 Pages: 199-204 DOI: 10.2143/OLP.26.0.583532 Abstract : Nearly a thousand Vaiṣṇava devotees have been mentioned by the poet Nābhādās in the ‘Garland of Devotees' (Bhaktamāl), a Brajabhāṣā (Hindī) hagiography composed circa A.D. 1600. Each devotee is described briefly, within the limits of one chappai stanza. Such conciseness has the advantage of only pointing out a devotee's most striking characteristics. |
