The world's museums are filled with an appreciable number of these ornate bronzes, the product of clandestine looting during the 1930s. A number of scholars have made admirable attempts at salvaging iconographic and technological information from these regrettably acontextual artifacts. Despite these efforts, however, we know little of how, where, and by whom they were created. |
