Document Details : Title: Firmilian's Narration as a Source for Movsēs Xorenac῾i Author(s): TOP῾C῾YAN, Aram Journal: Revue des Études Arméniennes Volume: 27 Date: 1998-2000 Pages: 99-115 DOI: 10.2143/REA.27.0.563260 Abstract : In chapter II 75 of his History Movsēs Xorenac῾i mentions Firmilian, bishop of Caesarea, a prominent ecclesiastical figure of the third century AD, and his Narration. Some events that, according to Movsēs Xorenac῾i, are written down in this Narration, occured after Firmilian’s death. Therefore most scholars assume that Movsēs Xorenac῾i actually never used a work of Firmilian and that he ascribed the work of another to Firmilian by mistake.
