They will feel that one cannot abandon the belief in a universal human rationality without abandoning the belief in human dignity and without giving indirect support to the particularistic ideology of groups who aim at the enslavement or destruction of other groups. However, those who are somewhat acquainted with Rorty’s work know that he is by no means attracted to a dangerous kind of particularism and that he is deeply attached to the ideals of the Enlightenment. |
