Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 65 Issue: 1 Date: April 1989 Pages: 94-95 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.65.1.556441 Abstract : In a previous publication I briefly adressed the question of why, with all the persons it does cite by namen the Book of Jeremiah nowhere mentions Ezekiel. There, I proposed that Jeremiah's Ezechielschweigen reflects tensions between the priestly lineages of Abiathar-Anathoth and Zadok-Jerusalem with which Jeremiah and Ezekiel (as well as their tradents) were, respectively, aligned. In the present note I wish to suggest and addition, complementary explanation of the phenomenon. In so doing, I take as point of departure Jeremiah 29 (LXX 36). As will be recalled, this chapter revolves around the interaction between Jeremiah in Jerusalem and the exiles of 597 in Babylon. |
