Document Details : Title: Freud, Hosea, and the Murder of Moses Subtitle: Hosea 12 Author(s): LUST, J. Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 65 Issue: 1 Date: April 1989 Pages: 81-93 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.65.1.556440 Abstract : For several reasons, Hos 12 is an intriguing chapter. Its numerous references to the traditions about Jacob are often enigmatic, and so are some of its allusions to Moses and the Prophets. In many instances, its text is obscure. The translator of the Septuagint seems to have faced mostly the same problems in his Hebrew text, and his solutions are often not better than those worked out by modern translators. The unity and the composition of the chapter raise more questions. All these intricacies turn this chapter of Hosea's Book into a favorite topic for scholarly studies. |
