Document Details : Title: Cardinal Merry del Val and the Malines Conversations Author(s): DICK, J. Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 62 Issue: 4 Date: December 1986 Pages: 333-355 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.62.4.556330 Abstract : The Malines Conversations were a series of ecumenical discussions between English representatives of the Aglican Church and Continental European representatives of teh Roman Catholic Church. Except for the last Conversation, they were held under the presidency of the Belgian Cardinal Désiré Joseph Mercier (1851-1926). Today, sixty years after the conclusion of the Malines Conversations, we can credit them with two accomplishments: one in the development of Roman Catholic ecumenical relations, the other in the development of post-Modernist Roman Catholic theology. |
