Document Details : Title: The Lord is the Spirit (2 Cor 3,17a) Author(s): WONG, E. Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 61 Issue: 1 Date: April 1985 Pages: 48-72 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.61.1.556297 Abstract : n2 Cor 3,17a is a difficult half verse in which Paul seems to identify the Lord with the Spirit by saying :ὁ δὲ κύριος τὸ πνεῦμά ἐστιν. The basic difficulty in the interpretation of this verse involves what one understands by the term κύριος. The history of exegesis shows that κύριος in 2 Cor 3,17a has been taken to be God, Christ, or the Spirit itself. These theological, christological, and pneumatological interpretations of the verse are still being maintained'. |
