One of Scott’s sayings which had touched him from the very beginning was “Growth, the only evidence of life”. A closer examination of Newman’s life shows again and again how great a role this idea of growth played in his spiritual development. His early works already contained the leading ideas found in his Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrineand Grammar of Assent. |
