Document Details : Title: Punishment and Mercy in the Primeval History (Gen 1-11) Author(s): KRASHOVEC, J. Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 70 Issue: 1 Date: April 1994 Pages: 5-33 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.70.1.542193 Abstract : The narratives of Gen 1–11 are of immense theological importance. In them we see presented, in dramatic form, scenes from the story of man’s original aberration and God’s punishment, a story which, however, does not lead inexorably to a final condemnation. Naturally we cannot hope to present a detailed or comprehensive treatment of all the individual texts. Instead, our research will be limited to an examination of the relationship between human guilt on the one hand and divine response on the other. |
