Document Details : Title: Attributing Things to God Author(s): MOONAN, L. Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 68 Issue: 1 Date: April 1992 Pages: 86-117 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.68.1.542164 Abstract : My aim here is to outline a strategy for treating attributions to God, consistent with maintaining a Negative Theology view on the divine nature. Attributions are hardly to be avoided in expressions of serious worship: they are pervasive in Christian liturgies, for example; as much in the Roman collects as in the creeds. Yet to reflecting worshippers, seeking to understand what they do, a Negative Theology view can seem the only genre of view on the divine nature, consistent with their faith, without being a disguised specification, or would-be specification, of that faith. |
