Document Details : Title: Grammar and Reasoning in Romans 7,12 and 7,13-14 Author(s): LAMBRECHT, Jan Journal: Ephemerides Theologicae Lovanienses Volume: 80 Issue: 4 Date: December 2004 Pages: 470-474 DOI: 10.2143/ETL.80.4.542108 Abstract : The anacolouthon of Romans 7,12 underlines the positive character of the law and constitutes the conclusion of 7,7-12. Notwithstanding its repetitious features, verse 13 differs from v. 7 and is the beginning of a new text unit: sin misuses the law and becomes sinful beyond measure. Verse 14 provides a grounding statement; its two clauses, however, are not strictly parallel; more emphasis lies on v. 14b. |
