Document Details : Title: An Early Nushayrî Theological Dialogue on the Relation between the Ma'nâ and the Ism Author(s): BAR-ASHER, M.M. , KOFSKY, A. Journal: Le Muséon Volume: 108 Issue: 1-2 Date: 1995 Pages: 169-180 DOI: 10.2143/MUS.108.1.525847 Abstract : The short treatise published here in its original Arabic (Ms. Paris Arabe 1450) and with an annotated English translation is a dialogue between the eminent Nuṣayrī sage 'Abd Allāh Ibn Ḥusayn b. Ḥamdān al-Khaṣībī (d. 346/957 or 358/969) and his disciple Abū 'Abd Allāh al-Ḥusayn b. Hārūn al-Ṣā'igh, the author of this treatise. The latter is the author of another short treatise found in the same manuscript, as well as of a festive ode. The date of composition is not specified in the treatise. However, it must have been written while al-Khaṣībī was still alive or shorlty after his death, that is sometime in the second half of the 10th century. |
