Document Details : Title: The Object Suffixes in Samaritan Aramaic and the Modes of their Attachment to the Verb Author(s): FLORENTIN, Moshe Journal: Ancient Near Eastern Studies Volume: 29 Date: 1991 Pages: 67-82 DOI: 10.2143/ANES.29.0.525719 Abstract : In the research presented here I have examined the object suffixes in Samaritan Aramaic as represed by the various manuscripts of the Samaritan Targum. I made an attempt to present the object suffixes according to both their forms and the way they are attached to the verb stem. I came to the conclusion that the object suffixes (including ל״י verbs) should be treated separately. Discussion of the object suffixes appended to other verb forms should be divided into two parts: suffixes attached to stems anding in a vowel (and not just ל״י verbs as is customary) and suffixes attached to stems ending in a consonant. This investigation also attemps to determine the conditions for the appearance of the various morphemes and, finally, to make a distinction between the early and the late Samaritan Aramaic. |
